Smashed the pins and then carefully piened them.

Now all I need to do is sand them flat on a flat plate. I may have to fit the guard, again. But that is no big deal.

I hope you can see the copper inserts. I just used my phone to take the pictures. I chose copper for a reason. Should become clearer when I build the sheath.

I am pretty sure I will need to fit the guard, again. So I am going to flute the edge of the guard before doing that.

This task is not all that hard. But it is time consuming. First chuck your dremel cutoff tool into your drill press. Set the depth to hit approximately in the middle of the guard. I set it on a 123 block. Easier to spin all the way around the guard. Does not have to be all that deep. Just a consistent mark all the way around.

Here is the key tip. Flip the guard over and go around again. Do not move the chuck. Just flip and cut-again. It will look like this.

Now the time consuming part. Take a round file and start removing that material between the two lines. Slow and steady wins the race.

I am using a 1/8 inch chainsaw file. Brand new and ready to cut.

I am using my handy little speedy vise, sitting at the kitchen table, watching some baseball on television. We shall see how much I can get accomplished tonight. Hopefully most of it. I start on the rounded ends.

A new file made quick work of that task. Still needs cleaned up with hand sanding. But the bulk is completed.
