What's going on in your shop?

Those are awesome, Ed. How small do you think one could go with this? Do you think they could be done drinking straw size?
It COULD....but it would be a big job. These were only a tad over 3" long. The big issue would be having to bore out a much longer section... you'd run into issues with longer drills bit deflecting as they bore. It would also mean dealing with thinning the wall down enough to make it a practical drinking straw.... again, turning without getting too much deflection over the length. So, yeah, it very likely could be done, I just think it would be far more trouble them it's worth. :)

That was one of my concerns, but I have no experience with using a lathe, which is why I asked.
Over the night, I also decided that keeping them rust-free on the inside could be an issue, and until I learn/get comfortable with either stainless damascus or timascus, that this isn't as good an idea as I originally thought.
 
I made a wrought iron bottle opener with hedge scales. Wrought was pretty hard to work in the real thin sections.

Gona do a bit of forging before Christmas! These are mosaic billets.... that will get opened up, then forged into blades.
