DeMo 2022 Kith

The non name side took a bit more filing. But it fits pretty good. I can live with that fit.

I had that happen once on a copper bolster. I used spray adhesive and glued a strip of 220 grit onto the front of the handle scale and used that as a sanding block. Worked great! YMMV

I am ready to attach the scales. If the knife was not etched, I would epoxy one-side of the scales on, drill the pin holes, flip it over and do the other side, then use my grinder to make the edges fit the knife handle. Easy peasy!

But, with the etch, I want to keep the etch. So I plan on fitting the scales before attachment so that I do not need to sand off the etch, later.

Never occurred to me to do it this way!?! I might try that.

I trimmed the scales all the way to meet the blank. I was doing so well staying off the etch. Then wham! I hit it in several places. Went ahead and just smoothed the scales all the way around. I will re-etch before attachment. Just added a few steps.

Really does look like a knife handle.

Shiny tapered pins. Pockets cut to hold epoxy.

The handles fit like this with the pocket lined up to the holes through the handles. I think this holds a bit better than a flattened scale squeezing out all the epoxy.

Nice! Do you rough up the handle surfaces any further (wood and metal)?
