I had that happen once on a copper bolster. I used spray adhesive and glued a strip of 220 grit onto the front of the handle scale and used that as a sanding block. Worked great! YMMVThe non name side took a bit more filing. But it fits pretty good. I can live with that fit.

Nice! Do you rough up the handle surfaces any further (wood and metal)?Shiny tapered pins. Pockets cut to hold epoxy.

The handles fit like this with the pocket lined up to the holes through the handles. I think this holds a bit better than a flattened scale squeezing out all the epoxy.
