I would compare it to working with oak. Not as hard as Blackwood. Not as soft as walnut. To me, it really does have a spicy aroma when it is hand sanded. With a bit of elbow grease it can turn out very nice.Looks awesome Dennis! I ordered a couple of Ironwood blocks the other day for scales. I hope they have some nice character like those do. Is it hard to work with?

Yes. I have several swivel knives. When I finish pouting, I will try again.That knife looks great Dennis. waiting to see the sheath. have you ever used a swivel knife? you could carve an owl in it and with some simple tools make a nice owl.

I tried stamping an owl instead of carving it. Even worse. Looks like a bison. Back to the drawing board. Ugh!!
