I don’t like the 5160 mild steel combo, it feels weird under the hammer, even at welding heat there is a major difference in how soft the mild steel is vs the 5160, it spreads laterally really fast and you really gotta keep on top of squaring your edges up. I have a lot of 5160 and shop funds are nil till I sell some stuff so that’s what I’m learning on I guessForged out another camp axe. Mild steel body with a 5160 bit forge welded in. The handle is American hickory.
