What's going on in your shop?

Had the last 2 weeks off from work, so I got lots of stuff done!

Nitro V Drop Blood Knives. Double edge, chisel ground blades to poke a tuna and cut their lateral blood line to bleed them out quick. Black/Green Linen Micarta, natural canvas micarta and black SureTouch handles.

I had a blade helicopter and it hit my fingers. Luckily for me it was the back unsharpened part of the blade!

Or your second, or third if you don't learn the first few times! I try to make sure I drill holes so if it does helicopter, I get hit with the spine and not the edge. I also know to go slower and when I hear the metal sound change pitch when it's close to breaking through, I am really careful. I have had the drill press lift my small vise before, too.

Speaking of things flying in the shop, I still haven't found my old Glass Platen yet? My platen assembly tilted, jammed into the tool rest, broke the belt and pulled the platen face (Pyroceram glass JB Welded to a 3/8" thick piece of mild steel) from my magnetic platen backer and put it into orbit. It happened a few weeks ago, dinged up my drive wheel in 2 spots and then departed for parts unknown. I've checked around and under the grinder, along side of the table the grinder is on and even behind where I was standing in case it went up and over me and still haven't found it yet! I made a new one with 1/4" mild steel and glass, replaced the drive wheel on the motor, and added a lot more magnets! And I found the pesky screw that loosened that allowed my platen assembly to tilt and get jammed. I guess I will find it one of these days??
 
My second time doing any kind of wrap. I thought this knife would get too slippery in use -fish slime, blood, fat etc... - which can be frustrating in my opinion - so I added a little extra grip in the back. It's a thin 4" skinner in 80CRV2. Unstabilized solid weathered moose time with epoxy to hopefully be able to clean it.

I filed out a recess in the antler to receive the twine (I used bushcraft twine). And at this point my wife walks in and says, "What are you doing???!!!" To which I reply, "Trying to ruin it as fast as I can......no, I'm going to wrap it - it's too slippery." And she says, "But it was so beautiful!" and then I say, "Don't worry it still will be." haha. But my original plan was one peice of black leather stitched at the bottom. I tried the twine again and thought it looked good and just went with that. I didn't have the patience to try the leather and then have the thread tear out in use.

I ended near the back. I didn't get that to disappear like I wanted but it is cleaner than my last one. I also tried to file in some finger grips at the bottom that would show through the wrap, but they also didn't come out like I hoped. But overall it turned out OK I think.
