What's going on in your shop?

I haven't been very happy with my hand sanding station for my blades. I had been using a wood 1×2 in my Panavise and holding the blade with a heavy duty spring clamp...felt like it was always moving and I had to readjust it all the time and blade flex always bothered me. I saw another guy (TJ Traylor on facebook) built himself a handsanding contraption a while back and I always thought I needed to build one similar to his...well, yesterday was the day! This thing works SO much better than my chunk of wood!!haha I can tighten it down on the tang so the blade doesn't move around and added a threaded bolt with a piece of leather on top that holds the blade and doesn't let it flex at the tip! Works like a champ and I made it from stuff I had lying around the shop

I like that! It’s pretty similar to what I use, except mine is made from wood. I have some chunks of aluminum in the shop, I might have to copy your design.

Those knives look great! I like the stand, too.

Thanks! My skills are improving with every knife. I haven't had to trash one in quite some time.

I did have a pretty bad grinding blunder recently, but the blade was so nice that my wife is using it in the kitchen. I won't put my mark on it or let it out of the house, but it's a good usable blade with a nasty gouge on it...

Nice dewar. Insulation is everything, make yourself a nice 2" thick styrofoam box to put it in and your nitrogen will last even longer. Just in case you don't know, don't plug the vents in the cap, it has to be able to breathe or it will build up pressure and bad things will happen. Let us know what the price is to fill it. I filled mine a few weeks ago and nitrogen has gone way up since the last time I bought it. They used to fill my 34 litre dewar for 30 bucks, it was 68 bucks this time. Nitrogen was $2.00 a litre.
I had been quoted $7/L but I showed up at the end of the day on a Friday. They (the shop guys) filled it for $30 even, so $3/L.

Trying something completely new. New profile, new grind.

I don’t know if there’s a name for that profile, but I’ve seen it on folders before and it’s really intrigued me. Been told it’s a flat grind vs compound, so that’s how I’m approaching it. Hopefully I won’t screw it up!

I like it. Like a recurve-tanto.
