Thanks, that sounds like a great idea. I'll try that on my next knife.Car wax. I put the scales on temporarily and wax that area. When I glue the scales on, the epoxy squeezes out and I leave it. Once dry, the epoxy pops right off. Huge thanks to Ed and others who suggested this technique.
Wasn’t so much of a crack as the top just kind of crumbled away at some point. I was it 600 I think and went to grab another piece and all of a sudden there was a chunk missing. LOL. I would say it polished up ok though. View attachment 75924
