Great posts Ray. And Brad.
There is a MASSIVE bunch of people that believe that as long as everybody loves everyone and all of us *try* to do the 'right' thing everyone will go to heaven and there is room for all religions because we "all basically believe the same thing" and a loving and merciful God wouldn't send anyone to hell, so hell isn't real and on and on and on.
It's a trap set be the devil and I can't hardly stand to think about all the souls that will spend eternity lost because of it. Yeah, it sounds great.....let's all sing kumbaya and hold hands and we'll all be okay.
The truth is there is only ONE way to heaven. And that is believing we are all sinners, believing that Jesus Christ, the son of God, IS God and He died on that cross to pay for our sins because we don't deserve His mercy, we can't earn it and we certainly can't buy it, and that Christ is alive and risen and defeated death.
That's the only way. "Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin."
Folks can talk until they're blue in the face about following Jesus and listening to his teachings and loving everyone (AND WE ALL SHOULD!!). But the truth is, THAT in and of itself won't save you. If you believe it will, then you are trashing the whole book of Romans.
Loving everyone and trying to be more like Jesus is great. But it doesn't deal with the sin issue, which we all have. If you really want to listen to Jesus' teachings, listen to the ones about sin and repentance and the lost eternity that unbelievers will endure.
Standing up for the truth in the Holy Word isn't nearly the same as judging people. Some seem to be confused on that. I don't think any Christian here has had a self righteous attitude or thinks he's better than someone else or without flaws and sin, INCLUDING ME! Following every part of God's word and not picking which ones are true and which ones are 'flawed by man' and pointing that out is not judging someone.
