Thanks Ken,ya being a bandsaw blade it’s fairly flexible especially lengthwise. I have been making knives a while so have tools. Yes was going to use an angle grinder for initial shaping. Thanks again,pics when done. Here’s the latest knife from said saw blade
Ken,the saw blade is 1/8 in. I was thinking of making something like the SOG Valkyrie,head and handle are one piece. Thanks for responding and any tips you can share.
I am thinking of taking up a new hobby,axe throwing. I have about 12 feet of saw mill bandsaw blades,15n20. Do I need to heat treat it if I’m careful no to over heat it while profiling and beveling? They will be full tang.
Has anyone worked with Hawaiian Ohia? I have some very old and dry pieces. Wondering about best finishes. I’ve heard it’s an oily wood so will west systems epoxy work well.
Instead of using the wife’s kitchen stove to temper my 1095 and 15n20 will a convection toaster oven do the trick or should I just use a normal nonconvection toaster oven? The convection types seam to be a little larger.
I have about ten feet of lumber mill bandsaw blade. It’s about 10 in. Wide and about 1/8in thick. I’ve never worked with it before. Will it make a decent knife? Do I have to anneal it before shaping and beveling? Do I harden and temper as I do with my 1095. I’m new to knife making and new to...
