    James Peterman Fighter

This knife was made by James Peterman. I'm pulling it out of my collection in order to fund other hobbies. It's 13" OAL, with a 9" blade of 1095. Unfortunately, I don't know much about James, and I got this from someone else so I'm not sure what it's value it. Does $200 TYD sound pretty...

    Vertical or horizontal for HT?

Do you guys have a preference as far as vertical versus horizontal for heat treating? My thinking is a vertical forge would make it easier to evenly heat the blades and not have the hot spots to contend with. Would a freon tank be a suitable shell for a vertical forge if all I was doing was...

    Drop Point Hunter

This one is 1084 steel, edge quenched, with walnut scales. It is 9.25" OAL, with a 4.5" blade. The sheath is deer rawhide over veggie tan leather, with some snake skin and buckskin accents. I had some problems with the pin holes, resulting in some halos so I'm going to put this one up fairly...

    More photobucket problems

For some reason pictures from my camera will not upload on photobucket. They'll get to 94% and then just stop. If I take a pic with phone everything works fine, though. Has anyone else experienced this, or maybe know what the issue is? I've tried Picsaweb too, but I can't figure out how to...

Longshot: Looking for a lefty recurve

I'm looking for something in the 40-45lb. range. I'd prefer a longer recurve, but as long as it has at least a medium grip I'm not too particular. I can offer this knife up for trade out of my collection. It's made by James Peterman, 13" OAL with a 9" blade of 1095 steel.

    Drop point hunter

This one is made out of 1084 steel, edge quenched. It's 9.25" OAL, with 4.5" of sharp. The scales are walnut, with copper pins. I'd love any critiques or criticisms before I finish it out.

    Direct Drive a Treadmill Motor

I'm getting ready to start working on my NWG and have a motor question. We've got a treadmill taking up space in our bedroom and I'd like to rob the motor out of it for the time being. I'd like to set it up as a direct drive with the hopes of being able to upgrade my shop to 220v and getting a...

    Drop Point Bushcrafters

In the final stages of finishing these 2 up. Both are made from 15n20 steel and 8" OAL with a 4" blade. The top one has Micarta scales, and the bottom one has dyed maple. Any comments and critiques are appreciated. I appologize for the extremely crappy cell phone pics. I hope to get some...

    NT Kith 2013

You guys up for another round? I figure about the same time frame as last year, ready to ship right after the Blade show.

Gotta lay down the hammer for a while

I've developed a nastly case of tendonitis in my right ring finger, that seems to get worse every time I spend some time over the anvil. I hate to do it, but I'm going to have to step out of the Neo tribe for a while and join the world of cutting and grinding. I tried putting it off as long as...

    Problem with Craftsman grinder

I've been using this grinder for over a year now with no problems, but today every time I turned the switch on it overloaded the outlet and tripped the reset. Anyone know what might cause this issue? I tried all three outlets in my garage, and it did the same thing each time.

    Big bellied skinner

This one is made from 01 tool steel, with 3.75" blade. The scales are walnut, and the pins are copper. I haven't completed a sheath for it yet, but one will be included. $100 with a leather sheath, or $130 with rawhide.

    Big bellied skinner

I just finished this one up from a piece of 01 steel I had. The cutting edge is 3.75" long. It was all stock removal, just wanted something to work on my grinding skills. I'm feeling much more confident with that now, but I know I still have a long ways to go. I would appreciate any...

    Simple skinner

My plan is to knock out a bunch of these in order to spend more time focusing on forging and grinding. Nothing special, just 1084 steel, 9.5" OAL with a 4.25" blade, which I hot blued for corrosion resistance. The tang has a coat of truck bedliner under the cord wrap. After fighting with...

    Walnut and old file

I forged this one out of an old file I found in my great aunt's barn. It has a little hamon action going on, but it's my first attempt at it and I didn't do a very good job of making it show. Walnut handle with an awesome grain pattern and copper hardware. The sheath is wet formed veggie...

    Piggy Poker

Just finished this one up for a fella to take pig hunting. The blade is 5160 steel and comes in at 7" long. The clip is shaving sharp for a couple of inches to aid in penetration should the need arise. Handle is walnut and the guard is hammer textured copper. Sheath is veggie tanned leather...

    Making them pointy

One problem I have when forging is drawing out the tip of the blade into a point. I try to get the point established early and draw out some taper, but I still tend to end up fairly blunt and rounded when I get to the final product. Any pointers you guys have for making a knife pointy. I want...

    Knife and armguard combo

A buddy of mine requested a knife a while back that could be carried in an armguard. He was going to send the knife off to a guy that specializes in these type guards, so I asked if I could give it a shot before he did. The knife is 1084 steel with leopard wood scales, and the armguard is deer...

Fighting knife for a new soldier

A little over a week ago a friend of mine called me about making a knife for his son that was graduating from basic. He left it open ended to do whatever I wanted just make it big. This was forged out of 1/4" x 1.5" 1084 steel, OAL length is a little over 11", tapered tang, forged finger...

    Sens

Any of you guys regularly use sens to reduce blades? Do they work much better than a quality file, or will hogging with a course file work just as well? I've been debating on building myself one, but can't make up my mind if it'll be worthwhile or not.
