Finally finished this beast of a gyuto! W2, integral, with some quilted rainbow Siamese Rosewood from Greenberg Woods. I “s” ground this on my 36” platen, then used my 8” contact wheel on the lower part of the s, so there is a tighter radius along the edge. I really like the way it looks, but it was really a pain to grind. This is also a takedown, composed of only three pieces. The blade, the wood, and a 304 stainless Allen socket nut I made to hold it all together. I buy stainless Allen bolts and turn the threads off on the lathe and then drill and tap them to make the nuts. First hamon and first integral, and I’m pretty happy with it.

It was some pretty stuff. My picture taking skills don’t show it off very good, but I sure liked it!

They are antler. I trimmed some slabs off elk antler and mounted them this morning. Hopefully I got them thin enough I’ll be able to leave some bark on the finished scales.

Another 4.75" 80CRV2 dagger, this time 1/4" thick with Carbon Fiber, Red G10 and black Ameragrip and a Red/White/Blue Ameragrip Tuna Poker finished up this week! Would have done more on my days off, but ended up getting sick and having to take it somewhat easy.

First knife completed after my hand injury and second one using AEB-L. Took me awhile to get my grinding groove back.

Think I’m gonna really like this steel.

Hand sanding today, fun fun…..all day last Friday and part of today. Finally got this up to 180 and everything where I want it. Well, on this side anyway. The other side is still at 60 grit and has some ripples in it to address, but I’m getting there.

Not my favorite either. I have to be in the right mindset to tolerate it for hours without going insane.

Opaul, did you look a the assembly videos on YT? That's what I followed to assemble my laser. Wasn't too bad with decent video guidance
