. But after looking at a lot of these knives, almost all of them are what I would describe as barrel shaped. All they did was grind down the fore and aft to transition the guard and pommel. No attention was given to clean lines and eye appeal. Which is what makes a knife IMHO.I came very close to substituting a piece of stag that would have been perfect but then, to me, it just didn't seem right. The guard, washers and spacers had to be replace because they were no good. I tried to keep it as original as I could but I just couldn't keep the barrel shaped handle.

I still love the way it came out! I understand function before looks as well.

Completed knife #7 yesterday.
Steel: 8670 high carbon steel @ 58 HRC (+/-2)
Grind: Full flat w/20dps working edge
Finish: Hand rubbed satin
Scales: Segmented, woven Black Dog Micarta, Lager G10, orange G10 liners & spacers, brass pins & custom Sasquatch mosaic center pin
Sheath: Custom Kydex & leather, set up for scout carry

Got the rest of the wood wall up under the tarp, so it goes foam, plywood or osb, then the tarp. Got the shelving unit built and 2/3 of the belt hooks up. I am going to add more hooks for the belts to some of the plywood walls on the long side. Then I need to seal the seams in the ceiling foam boards with plastic/tape, seal up the short plywood wall and hang the last tarp. The metal shelving unit will hold steel on the bottom, handle materials on the middle 2 shelves and kydex/sheath supplies on the top. I picked up clear storage binsa with lids for the handle materials and open top bins for tools and smaller materials like pin stock.

New Bowie Knife in the works. Heat treated and sanded down to 800 grit. I may go for a mirror polish on this one...

It's been too cold here to do much out in the shop. So I've been doing some leather work. Here is a sheath I made for a head knife that I've had for a while.
I had never heard of a head knife. I searched it up and I got the search results "quarter" knife and "round" knife...similar to an ulu, but with a straight handle, and prodominately used for push cutting.
It gives me some new ideas for a push cutting knife profile I've been stuck on.
Very nice knife/sheath combo. Sasquatch pin is original. Looks good!

It has various names. I suppose Leather knife is most descriptive, as that is what it is mostly used for. Here is the knife out of it's sheath. As you can see it needs a lot of clean up. Rattling around in my leather tools without a sheath it got pretty banged up . Hence the sheath.
