my understanding is that olive oil can go rancid. A different choice is walnut oil , it doesn't.I've been using Olive Oil on our kitchen knives. So far so good.
I'll check it out. What I do with the Olive oil is put it on and then basically wipe almost all of it off. My carbon steel knives have developed a nice patina sans rust. But that does make sense.my understanding is that olive oil can go rancid. A different choice is walnut oil , it doesn't.
I’m sure it does. That stuff stinks. But it is good stuff. I use it on my firearms.Based on Kevin's recommendation some time ago, I use Ballistol on all my machinery, lathe, mill, etc. It works.
Plus, a little dab behind the ears keeps mosquitoes away!
May I ask how do you remove it? Is there an easier way? I had an old Yugo AK47 bayonet covered in it and it took me over 2 days to get all that off.I’m sure it does. That stuff stinks. But it is good stuff. I use it on my firearms.
You must be thinking about cosmoline.May I ask how do you remove it? Is there an easier way? I had an old Yugo AK47 bayonet covered in it and it took me over 2 days to get all that off.
Yes sir. I had a tough time removing the Cosmoline from my Bayonet. Especially in the parts that were internal and small crevices. You must be thinking about cosmoline.

That is really interesting. What is the product 3rd row, 2nd from the left, and top row middle? They also appears to be very clean.I use wd40 lcti... In my testing it's one of the best
But I would humbly ask all who do this to pause a moment and think long and hard about the potential negative environmental impacts before doing this.spray on fishing lures (it works!)

That's a great comment! No feathers ruffled here. But I would humbly ask all who do this to pause a moment and think long and hard about the potential negative environmental impacts for the environment before doing this again.
How many of us would add something like this to their livestock feed before butchering?
