Dennis I really like the lanyard bead (fob). I hadn't thought about making a fancy one like that. I understand the glue up process, but how did you shape it?

Secured it with a nut, washer and bolt. Chucked it into my drill and spun it in my grinder. Then sanded it.

From paper. To leather. To carved and stamped. The shield is pretty much done except for color and lacing. The feather turned out pretty good...

I am living large. Edge dyed with Fiebing’s - Dark Brown. It will have a tan antiqued center with hopefully a cool feature on the feather. We will see, tomorrow.

I am going to line the sheath and have it roll over the top. I have never built a sheath like that before.

This sheath will have my first carved feather. It will have the first double loop lacing. And, it will have the first rolled over liner.

I’m sure there is a better name for it than “rolled over liner”. Any help? Proper term??

It is a real show of skill to go from "how do you do this" a page or so back to showing a perfect rendition of the original intention so quickly.
My hat is off to you Dennis

Von - Thank you! I am glad you like my feather. Perhaps your name will get drawn from the hat and it will end up at your house. As you know, everything in knife making has a first time. The first knife (a big step), first hidden tang (a hard step for me), first bowie (getting there and coming soon), the first slip joint folder (my dream knife and someday), etc. It is all about learning, practice, and then repeating it over and over until it becomes a part of you. I like the first times, the learning process, the evolution as a knife maker. And the best part of that is the knife making community. It may have been a first for me, but, there are a lot of knife maker's that have stepped forward, gave instructions, and shared their hard earned knowledge with me. All done freely or with a little request here and there. Not just sheaths but with knife making in general. Knife Dogs has been a big part in that learning curve. The makers that regularly contribute are some of the best people on earth. I just keep telling myself that the next knife is going to be a "dandy". Nothing beats that feeling.

You know I am going to make a suggestion that there be a stickie with all the WIP's on the Kith knives as there is a mountain of tips in Dennis's WIP as well as other I have been looking at. I would hate to see all of that info lost!

Dennis this one is going well! Two thumbs up!!
