I am glad that I am not the only doubter. My back-up has a hamon. I quickly sanded to 100 grit and checked it. Score!!

I went back and sanded to 400 grit. Re-etched. Right out of the etch.
Hit it with some steel wool.
And a bit of polish.
I still need to get the handle figured out. This will not be the final but the hamon is showing up quite nicely.

Handles are rough cut. Sorry Chris not maple burl. Went with a piece of bocote that I got from Daniel. Hopefully, when the knife is finished it will go back home. Circle of life type of deal.
