it seems no matter how straight I get even the first few lines I always have one or two spots that get wonky. Just need to slow down some I guess.

A few tips on basketweave.
1. Start in the middle and work both ways.
2. Use a good solid stamp. I broke a basketweave stamp right at the neck.
3. Finish the entire line before starting the next line. It helps to keep the lines straight.

I have been extremely busy at work and in life. Finally found a bit of time to work on the sheath. Got it colored with Fiebings antique finish (tan). Also attached the belt loop. A little surprise for Daniel. If he loses it, now he has a better chance of it finding its way back home.

Got the sheath cemented together. Checked the knife for fit. Ground the edges smooth. Colored the edges. Now I just need to mark and punch some holes to lace.

Got the edge braiding completed. Yesterday I went to Tandy and got some new leather for making lace. Some kind of oil finish and a little bit thicker than what I have used. I like it!! It worked nicely and the end result looks good.

I was trying to match the sheath colors with the knife handle colors. Pretty close. Age and patina will change them a bit. Hope you like them Daniel. When you get a chance send me a pm with your mailing address. I have a few more things to finish, like sharpening and final cleanup/polish.

Did you darken or subdue that Bocote in some way. I like the look.

All I used was Tru-oil followed by Ren. Wax buffing. It was just a really nice piece of bocote that I got in a trade with Daniel some time ago. Now, I am sending it back to Texas.
