this dude has also sent emails to myself and Bill Coye

must be an extra grande magazine to need so many knifemakers

My two Cents

Although replying to a spammer maybe gratifying, it is also a signal to him that the address he sent the email to is valid and that the recipient reads their mail. He can then continue to use the address within his mass mailer or sell it as a known good address to other spammers. I have a Gmail junk account that I use to respond to those type of email messages when it gets full I just delete everything.

If this continues the forum may need to change the way email address are displayed.

I'll gladly pay you tomorrow for a Hamburger/knife today :D ...
Maybe contact the Magazine and inform them of what this guy is doing, the laws might be different in spain, But also it'll make them aware that it's going on and might save a few other knife makers any problems...
Might also be an idea to e-mail some of the US magazines ?

Ernie, Tracy Mickley and I were contacted from our email addresses that can be found on our websites. Our website links are in our signature lines...

...he's trolling new knifemakers. He also called the phone number that's listed on my contact page. He used "the internet" to call me so there was no real phone number that could be tracked. I wasn't impressed with the young man on the other end of the line.

The email address I set up my KD account with has never received spam from being displayed on this forum or any other forum I'm a member of. So far so good. :)

It would be really interesting if he responds!!!

He's been given the opportunity. We'll wait and see.

I also received a "check" from a guy a few months ago for $7000.00 for 5 knives. Obviously, this was a scam as that model runs $180.00 each...."send the balance back with the knives".

Riiiiiiiight.

Folks just have to use their heads when dealing with people on the internet. Peroid. If you post your contact information on your website, expect weirdness.

You can call anyone you want to, raise all kinds of flags, shoot off flares. They'll be someone else to take his place.

Just my two cents.

The way I see it, if you're getting "knife SPAM" then your contact info is in the right place!

:)

Thats kinda what I thought............

I was like....................................

Hey, someone actually looked at my websitebouncewow1dancing dogurock1

:D

I got the exact same email. Theres no way I'm sending him anything. I just replied and said I'm not interested. I've gotten this same email about a year ago too.

Has any one even thought of reporting this guy to your
(state attorney generals office) internet scams are illeagal.
Instead of everyone playing his game, report him and start the paper trail.

Hhhm, on British Blades we've had a problem member who has scammed a few members then kept rejoining after being banned. He lives in Spain and his first user name was Davieinspain.

Maybe....

Dear Knife Makers,

My name is David Bolton, aka mr.dave.89.

Some of you have received e-mail, from me; asking for the opportunity, to review one of your knives. I am an accredited journalist, US Army veteran of six years and have a business degree and two minors in education and journalism, from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA.

Some of you gentleman I have found by surfing the web, reading the forms and word of mouth. You were contacted because, I liked your work and felt it would be received well in Spain. For some who may not know, Spain is NOT in South America, neither is Mexico for that matter. The magazine, is distributed in Mexico and parts of South America, though. Spain is a little larger then Texas, and has a population of forty-five million people. Spain is also the former colonial power of most of Latin America; and has a long history sword and knife makers.

Please find my list of references below. I HAVE received samples from all listed.

PLEASE, feel free to contact any of the makers and companies below.

Sniper Bladeworks, Lance and Jody are partners. I have only dealt with Lance, he is working with a friend of mine on a separate project. Lance is also a ex-SWAT office.

I am also on Facebook, feel free to review my friends list. There are some knife makers there, who I am working with and waiting on samples from. http://www.facebook.com/#!/david.bolton89

Any other questions about my work or credibility please direct to me at, davidlbolton@hotmail.com. You may call to my cell, (034) 637 260 992. Try www.voipbuster.com, they have the best rates, also free calls to the USA. That's why I use it, for ALL my international call.

Some of you, I do still wish to review. While others have presented and shown themselves, to be not to my standards. Any knife maker, who wants a fair and honest review, that will appear in a bi-monthly, foreign magazine. Is free, to contact me.

Thank you for your time in this matter.

Best regards,

David Bolton.
