Gut Hook with green canvas

I finished this guy up today. This green canvas is really cool. The knife is called "The Hawg Skinner". Named by the guy that ordered the first one I ever made. He wanted it to clean hogs with. He figured out that using the hook to make all the skin cuts will preserve the cutting edge of the knife. Some folks like em some folks don't. Let me know what you think.

I think the "Hawg Skinner" is about as perfect a design as they come. Just the right size to get into tight spots and a really useable gut hook with a big enough spread to get through some thick hides. Great knife with a great finish. Ain't hard to look at, either.
 
Your hawg skinner looks about as good as you can get and looks very usable. Great job!

I don't like gut hooks in general, but this one is wonderfully executed. The fit between the dovetailed bolsters and the micarta is amazing!
 
Great looking knife. I like the gut hook. It looks functional. Some gut hooks really don't work well. The dovetail bolsters are well done. The micarta is a good choice for a working knife. It will be there from now on. Of course the corby fasteners are my choice too. The finish on this knife is superb! I don't know how you do it. I may have to come down and have you give me lessons. What a knife!!!
 
Heck yeah, that's really well-done. The scales look almost like turquoise. I agree it appears big enough to work hard but not clumsy in any way. Homerun!
 
Very nice and clean work. Great fit to finish. While not being a fan of gut hooks it does look functional. Congrats!
