Ridgeback Knives

Guest
Quick intro:
In my "spare" time I operate Ridgeback Knives and PACMUL Adventure Gear.
Work has kept me all but completely out of the shop for about a year. I'm about 4 orders behind right now...
My head is back in the knifemaking game tho, and I am entertaining the idea of going into manufacturing as opposed to just custom making. My target clientele is the EOD/UXO community, and I plan to taylor the majority of my stuff to them.
I saw this site on USA Knifemakers Supply and figured I'd drop in. I just got my Beta folder kit in the mail and am very excited to return home to start working on it.
So, hello, and I look forward to meeting all of you.
Matt

I'll get some pics up here in a few...
I picked the bomb diggers, 'cause I am one. (UXO Tech) and we USE knives... On the cusp of ABUSE knives. Everything from digging, to prying, to hacking our way thru the jungle. (I'm currently in Okinawa). It's a good market for custom knives on the grid, and most of the guys I meet, for some reson, like my work. Up until know I've done mostly camping/survival and combat knives. So, now I'm working on grid knife designs.
Ridgeback Knives came from a) my dog Martini (rhodesian ridgeback black lab mix) and b) I, like my dog, sport a mohawk and have for over a decade.
Thanks for the warm welcome and as soon as I figure out how to upload pics, I will.

Ah a migrant ordnance picker... I did one short contract in AL right after I got out for EarthTech and started making knives full time right after.

Is Matt Simonian there with you? :)

Great, another guy that likes to play with things that go "BOOOOOM". Welcome to the pack Matt. Look forward to seeing pics of your work.

Thanks guys!
Les: What a small world! Sumo's out here! We were just drooling over your XM-7 EOD on the cover (of which magazine, I forget) that thing loogs great bro! I just realized that I was talking to the same Les George...hahaha. I'm half brain dead by the end of the day. We're in Okinawa right now. I'm saving up for my KMG this job (amongst other toys) I should be up and running a full shop by March. I just finished my 27th knife, and I'm up to my elbows in orders. So life is good. The best thing about the grid is it finances my knife habit. This will be my career, bomb digging is just my trade.
I just started going back to BFC too. I noticed a few familiar names on here. You'll see me around here plenty.
Thanks for the warm welcome, all of you!
Pics in next post...

Ok, I'm slightly computer challenged :confused2:, and am having a heck of a time posting pics. Do I have to be a subscribing member for this? Point me in the direction, and I'll gladly sign up. But in the mean time, I'd like to get a few pics up... I'm not that proud that you all have to see my work, but I'd like to gets some eyes on it for some constuctive criticizm at least... Wait, I think I just got it! Here goes...IMG_3936.jpgDSCF2426.jpg257.jpgDSCF2428.jpg

Feel free to criticize everything except my photography skills. I never claimed to be Ansel Adams... :D

Welcome! I thought about digging for ordinance for a bit, then on Sat morning when I awoke decided it wasn't for me.
Looking good. My Vizsla is my avatar, so I hear you about your dog. My Best, Dozier
