Hello,

My name is Derek and I have this urge to make knives. I've had it for a while, but now find myself with the time to actually do it. I've got various pieces of steel laying around, and will have a 2x42 belt sander (A NWG is in my future sooner or later) in the coming weeks.

Now to practice a lot on small knives as I seem to have a thing for recurve fighters which would appear to be on the hardest cuts to make and keep consistent.

I'm in Concord. I've met Andy Sharpe (of Bad Squirrel Forge) once, but college got in the way of purchasing or doing much beyond what I started last year.

Now I've got a really expensive piece of paper and a lot more time on my hands. So here I go... :D

I got about half way into a knife using a 4x36 (I also filed down an old nicholson file, I should try to heat treat that...) and got frustrated grinding the bevels so I just skipped ahead and worked on the getting scales on it.

I am going to revisit this knife, work on the blade area more (its much wider in the belly than what I wanted) and finish profiling the micarta.
