Green box elder

I had an order for a knife and wanted to try something new. I used for the first time a dyed burl. I used a greenish, stabilized box elder burl from Gallery Hardwoods. The dyed burls are kinda cool. I may use more in the future. I e-mailed the customer a pic of the scales but I never heard back from him before it was time to put the handle on. Hope he likes green. I also tried a new file work pattern.

The knife is 3/16" O1 tool steel, 8 3/4" OAL, with brass bolster and pins.

Ok Gary , If he don't like that you'll never be able to please him. Very nice, every thing about it, now put it in one of your super sheaths.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I have discovered that not everyone likes green. The knife did sell but not to the person it was made for. The original customer gets another knife made for them with different handle material.

That is some of the cleanest file work I've ever seen. The rest of the knife ain't too bad either. :)

Thanks Art. Here's the sheath made from 9oz veggie tanned. The scrap handle material made a nice lanyard bead.

I'm not great on greens but that is a beauty, Gary, and the green certainly goes with the lovely craftsmanship !!! Frank
