One thing I enjoy about handmade balisongs is that changing the steel or handle material can make two knives from the same general tradition feel completely different. For example, the BF-13 Bear uses 440C with brass and Kamagong wood inserts. It is a fairly straightforward traditional-looking combination and comes in at 24 cm overall.

There is also the BF-154 Tanso, which goes in a completely different direction with an all-brass handle and D2 steel. The extra weight of the brass makes a noticeable difference to how the knife moves in the hand.

Another interesting one is the BF-102 Sibat, a D2 dagger-profile balisong with rosewood and brass. The page also goes into the differences between dagger, tanto, hunting and other blade profiles, which I found more useful than the usual “this one looks cool” product description.
