One thing I noticed when learning more about balisongs is that most beginner explanations spend a lot of time talking about flipping and not enough time explaining what is actually happening mechanically.
The two handles, pivots, tang pins, latch and blade all have pretty specific jobs.
For example, pivot tension changes how freely the handles move. Tang pins affect how the handles stop against the blade, while the bite and safe handles matter for obvious reasons once you start learning.
We put together a simple guide explaining the main parts of a balisong and what each one does. It is aimed more at someone looking at their first butterfly knife than at experienced flippers.
