1" wheels and split belts

I know the 1" wheels are getting popular, is anyone useing them? If so what are some of the pros and cons? I getting ready to build another grinder and I was thinking about going with 1", seems it would save money on belts if nothing else.

I use them all the time. I run a 10"x1" from Tracey. Nice wheel. I also took a 3/4" small wheel and shaved the rubber off one end to make it 1" wide on one side. I use it on everything.

I've used a 1" now for several years 8/10" both. Seems like you have a little more control with the hollow grind. I still use my 2"x 8" to profile. Can't tell any difference in the amount of time it takes to grind a blade. There is some savings on belts also.

Thanks guys. I am building a new grinder that will be used mainly for folders. It seems to me that the 1" belt would be more efficient for the smaller blades.
