Check out "birch bark oil " on youtube. Not sure if you have birch up there but they have alot in other northern climates. Might be a good alternative.

I'm glad it arrived ok. I had all sorts of aggravations sharpening this knife. It just didnt seem to wanna get sharp. I need to invest in a belt grinder one day.
