I have a problem a wood addiction problem

My mom says either fiddle back maple or myrtle, but grampa would know for sure. It was slated to be a elk antler mount but my neighbor didn't like the porus spalting it has. I suggested to a wood fanatic friend that we should stabilize it and fill the voids with multi colored polymer resin...

This may qualify as an addiction problem? Each crate is seperate types of raw scale thickness slats an 2 are hawthorne and alder burls drying. An ammo crate of deer antker behind them and the climate controlled room Shoe box totes of blocks and scales. And one bin to be stabilized. Sent...

Jes I am going to ask grampa about it and see what he thinks it may be. Either oak, myrtle or sycamore either way the wife has informed me there are pieces that are going on her big kitchen knives. Lol The price we married makers pay to keep things. Lol Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

Elk is really neat to work with, but is a porus core and you cannot drive a hidden tang into it very far with out it splitting. I had to try to prove gramps wrong. I lost that bet. Upside, the dogs loved the new chew toy. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

I have a problem a wood addiction problem

Another dillema is when your neighbor is a mount maker and gets a slab that has too many voids for his liking. And it weighs about 40lbs after being indoors for a year an 3 mo near a wood stove. Is a mystery river find burl. Lots of fiddleback and birds eyes. Any of you experienced fellers...

I got caught off guard and ill prepared.

Was talking with a gentleman the other day about hobbies and told him I started making knives as a hobby and was asked if I had one of mine on me. Duhhhh, No I don't. No I don't, WHAT THE HECK? How as a maker can you not carry a knife of your own making on you? That is the biggest way to display...

The comedy is the two sides are full of birds eyes, nope she wants the waves. Justin, you could take some of those wedges and glue them together with a strip of g10,brass,copper,stainless between them for some new looking handles. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

Stained Curly Maple Utility with Bronze Accents

The french patina looks similar to the navy camo. Is really unique and blends yet contrasts with the handle. Another beauty. Sent from my SM-G930R4 using Tapatalk

What's going on in your shop?

As we all know if momma isn't happy no one is. When we moved to our new house her bargain night stand broke so I decided to Take a page from the classic book of if you don't have it make it. Made her a new night stand and water proofed it. Took a break from knives to get a jump on spring...

Make your own sheath or send it out?

Looks good holds the knife in place your good to go. I make my own sheaths also so I can say I made this and also to try and be artsy fartsy with the color flow between handle and sheath. But I did the cheap thing and bought scrap boot leather that is double tanned. Still it is boot leather...

    Tru Oil vs. Ca

There issome info I should have gleaned earlier about waiting and wiping almost dry. I left the big sloppy mess tondry and ended up chasing my tail and sanding to bare wood 2x before it laid right for me. Now I know for the next one.

Different grind for me, what do you think?

Looking good Tony. I'm not a huge fan of hollows but hey, if we aspire to sell knives we have to do what the customer wants.

    Questions on soldering/brazing rig

Watch craigslist and garage sales, also there may be a Facebook buy n sell group local to you that a torch head can show up on. With that small set of bottles a cutting or heating option will be a short lived operation. Congrats on finding the set that will work for you.
