That looks really good! I love the waviness that shows. Did you do anything special to achieve that?

    Another wedding ring

I have the Grizzly mini mill. I bought a larger mill a couple years ago, but still use the heck out of the mini mill.

    Another wedding ring

Hopefully I'll have a lathe before I make any more. I'm going to look at an Enco 13 X 40 a local guy has for sale.

That's good to hear! I go in for a final chest x-ray tomorrow to make sure everything is clear.

    Another wedding ring

Next, I use a 3/8" carbide end mill to finish the inside circle of the ring. After I get it as close as I can in the mill, I use a dremel type tool with a sanding drum to finish it. I was able to get it within .007" this way. On to the grinder to complete the outside circle. Here I...

    Another wedding ring

At my family's Christmas, my niece asked if I could make her fiancé's wedding ring. How could I say no? They are getting married in January, so I thought I'd do a WIP as I made this one. Here's the billet of damascus I'm cutting the ring from. I used a cut off wheel on an angle grinder to...

    GKimmi's 2020 KITH

Finally able to get back to this one. Today, I got the blade sanded to 1200 grit. I also got the lug on the guard ground in. And the handle material is chosen. I decided on a nice piece of curly koa.

    kind of in a pinch

I don’t use anything. I grind the tangs on a 60 grit belt and hit the scales on an 80 grit disc and glue them up. If fresh ground, there’s no contaminates to clean off.

    Shop safety, more than basics

One thing I won't do is leave a knife in the knife vice. If I'm not right there working on it, it comes out of the vice and gets laid on the bench.

    Damascus for my son's wedding

Not too bad. I ended up at the dr. today for a chest x-ray because of a continuing cough. Got put on medication for the possibility of having the beginnings of pneumonia. Hopefully it knocks it out of me pretty quick.

    Does This Happen To You?

The first time I got my knuckle in a 36 grit belt, I put a band aid on it and went back to grinding. About a minute later, I have a blister on the same knuckle because the band aid caught on fire. Sometimes you just can't win.

    Damascus for my son's wedding

Our son is getting married on the 19th and he asked if I could make a damascus wedding ring. I've had the damascus made for a while, and had planned to take it to a friend's house to have him help me turn it on his lathe. First, his family caught Covid which delayed the turning of the ring...

Waterjet Blanks From NJ Steel Baron

I do have them cut the pin holes at 1/8", but just as a guide as the hole is not super accurate. It actually comes out a little under an 1/8", so I can drill them to an exact 1/8" or usually to 3/16" for the corbys I use. I just got my 2nd batch from them and have to say, if you do multiples...
