    Update on Blaze crud?

Has there been any new news regarding the black crud off the backer of Blaze belts? I've got to put in a belt order for mostly 120 and coarser and blaze are obviously a top choice in that range. I'm tempted even with the crud. I've been using some 120's and really liking them. I've actually...

What type of knives are selling today?

My two popular models are very much classics with a bit of a modern flair. They're basically a slim drop point and a more substantial drop point. Both have a gentle curve along the whole spine with a bit extra at the end for the drop point. Both have a decent belly without becoming dedicated...

    Grinding after HT

Ok, got the steel back and did some grinding. no problems at all. I started with a 36 grit 984f belt and then a 60 grit, quick and easy grinding. I removed the 60 grit grind lines with a 120 grit j-flex but not entirely and have stopped there for the day. I will start back up with gators...

    Grinding after HT

Yup, step by step, just keep plugging away at it. I figured I'd give you the heads up on the 2x42 though. It's not that you couldn't do it, but it's a real struggle on that machine. If you decide to give it a try on one, try the blaze belts. From the looks of it they're the best option in 2x42...

    Grinding after HT

on the 2x42 I'd at least get the bevels halfway done before sending them out, not the best machine for post ht grinding. It's FAST but low HP, so you'd just generate a lot of heat and not get anywhere. I used to do a little post HT grinding to fine tune things on 1080 and 1084 and it always took...

    KITH official pictures thread

No pics yet but I got Mark's knife. Just as awesome as the photos hinted at. This thing's a beast but without feeling over sized or clumsy. The handle is very nicely contoured for my hands (rare actually) and got sandblasted with the rest of the knife so it's got a nice smooth but non reflective...

    KITH official pictures thread

1/8" 1084, stabilized red wood handles, mosaic. The sheath is carbon fiber appearance kydex setup for iwb. The blade IS a belt finish, but not as rough as it looks in the pic. I did a little more cleanup after the pic in general, but most of what's showing in the image is actually just polishing...

wicked. I really like that. Has a solid, take no prisoners, not interested in being flashy just lopping off body parts, kinda feel to it.

What are the tricks to make a 01 steel knife not rust .

+1. if you go carbon in an environment it's going to get exposed to moisture much less liquid water, force the patina somehow. It can be as simple as the first use being some meat and acidic produce, then letting it sit a bit before washing. By a bit I mean twenty minutes or so, dry but not...

Very nice, Dan. ETA: Mine's now ready to go whenever. Sheath is done and the finish work on the knife is complete.

Not a great shot, but here's mine. I still need to make a sheath and a few finishing touches.
