i got'ya on the lemon..i had cut limes with the knife numerous times just had never seen that reaction..i love carbon steel blades and the graying out is perfectly kool with me..just had never seen such a quick reaction and put it on here to see who else had seen similar..thanks

the blade was several weeks old and had been in use in the kitchen almost everyday cutting everything..was always washed by hand and dryed..brush finish..was a sweet type onion..was more of a reaction than a vinegar etch..

A few weeks ago i made a 6" knife out of 01 and tonight while slicing an onion the steel reacted with the onion juice enough to leave black stuff all over the onion...it was ugly! Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I was going to make a large chef knife out of 01...

i have some 1084 and want to take advantage of its hamon potential...have read alot about satanite but cannot find it locally..anybody here that can steer me toward getting some? thanks

i have all kinds of parts..through hulls, various pipes and props. I dont think they would be worth sending with shipping prices. Do you use any type of flux when forge welding bronze or ni-bral together ? Learning process will be interesting

I have never heard or read about someone heating and shaping bronze and was trying to get some pointers before attempting it myself. I know it melts at much less temp. than I heat treat steel. I like the way it looks and resists the elements

Hello, I am a newb.anyway I am in the boat business and I have alot of bronze and nickle-bronze marine salvage fittings that I think I could use for guards,butt caps etc. Can you forge weld this stuff or heat and shape with a hammer. thanks
