i have some 1084 and want to take advantage of its hamon potential...have read alot about satanite but cannot find it locally..anybody here that can steer me toward getting some? thanks
Darren Ellis is top notch. All the materials used in my forge are from Darren, from the burner to the lining, itc-100 and satanite...only thing non-ellis bought was the blower.
1084 will not really work if a nice hamon is your aim. The Mn in 1084 makes it a deep hardening steel. Making a good hamon relies on shallow hardening steel. If you're chasing hamon, go 1095, W1, or W2...
