    Portable Band Saws

I haven't had one any other tools in the shop either, but I really like it.

    Portable Band Saws

I built my portaband stand entirely out of shop scraps, but definitely recommend a deep cut, foot pedal, and adding some type of stand or table to rest the parts on.

    Budgets and priorities

Dont overthink it. Simple versatile tools and creativity go a long day. I use a harbor freight portaband on a homemade stand for most of my cutting. I use a homemade 1x42 grinder for just about everything else. I dont see a need to cut curves on the bandsaw as I use the grinder to clean up...

What's going on in your shop?

First time working with stainless. This batch of AEB-L will be heading to Peter's this week.

    Mechanic knife

I'm leaning towards 1/4" or 3/16" 80crv2 full tang with the bottom of the tang proud of the handle scales. Probably g10 with a little texture for traction. Muchas gracious. Muy beano! Haha

I was thinking a straight edge with a tanto or chisel point.

    Mechanic knife

I have a nephew that is graduating high school in a few months that is a gear head. I'd like to make a shop knife for him to use as an auto mechanic. What do you guys see as the most useful knife style for a mechanic?

What's going on in your shop?

Busy weekend, but got a few put together and cleaned up. Still need to sharpen and make sheaths for most of them.

What's going on in your shop?

Finished up a little neck cleaver that has been sitting in the shop way too long. It turned out pretty nice and took a razor edge.

    HF Chisel Set

I was looking to do something like that for myself with O1 as I'm familiar with the heat treat. I've never used S7, but it looks to be more impact resistant. Can you treat S7 effectively with a forge?

    Future of Knifecraft

That's a fair assessment. Definitely not the same as a factory assembly situation.

    Future of Knifecraft

I got started with knife making by putting handles on knives and making sheaths for them. I told people I was a Knife Assembler at the time. Didn't know how else to explain it simply. I was honest and people still seemed to understand and respect that as well.

What's going on in your shop?

Just finished up this kitchen knife in 1095 with a little hamon and blue kirinite.

    First Hamon

What I did was about a 1/4" on just the spine and matched it on each side of the blade with a cardboard template

    First Hamon

Just some furnace cement from menards. Seemed to do the trick.
