Stag Finishing

It does look that way but I think it must be that plus something else to make it look like that. Looking forward to hearing more about this.
I’ve used Potassium Permanganate to color the stag.

I was going to say potassium permanganate too. It looks like it might be jigged bone too.

Whatever it is, I love the look.

More than likely it has been dyed. Knife handles periodically announce when they are going to dye stag and you can send it in to them. Additional finish can be waxed or using boiled Lind seed oil to get the shiny finish at the end.

I just used Potassium Permanganate to darken the stag on the Bowie I just made, but I can't get anything close to this! I wish I could...

I've been experimenting with dying giraffe bone. I've used leather dye, Rit dye, Keda dye and Minwax stain. I may have to try some Potassium Permanganate on it too.

I knew some makers who used to use the Rite dye on cow horn should work on giraffe.

So they get this color just by dying it?

I really like their dyed stag. It just looks better than home dyed stuff.
