Finally got all the piece made but I still need to epoxy it together. The nut on the end of the tang is holding it together right now. I finally got me a forge blower that will create welding temps so now I can use more of my saw steel up. Just used two piece and it worked out real well. As far as I can tell its just a simple carbon steel. Sure not L-6. I never did measure it but I'm pretty sure the blade is around 9 1/2", wrought iron fittings. I bought the crown at Blade in 2005 and I think its red stag. Really can't remember for sure.

Wow! I really like it Ray. Seeing knives like that makes me impatient to get my shop back together. Great work.

John, I think I'll do a sheath for this one. I'm starting to get burned out from making knives and I need a break so maybe doing a few sheaths will get me interested in making somemore knives. Usually making sheaths seems to fire me up to make another knife. I just started forging a harpoon tonight. Don't ask me why. :D

Mike, I thought old age was my problem but I think you hit the nail on the head. 2thumbs For several years I have thought about making a harpoon and did find a site on line that offers them so at least now I know what they look like. Like I already mentioned I got a start on one and to my surprise other than doing a little cutting with my portaband it does sort of resemble one. I figure its just another spear........ I'm just going to make the iron for right now.
