That's what I used. I use it to remove epoxy and figured it would work on solder as well.

As stated in my original post I made two of these knives. One was a hidden tang and the other a full tang. I wasn't sure I could pull off the hidden tang, so I needed a backup plan.

The hidden tang knife came out great and is now in the hands of a very happy owner. I wasn't about to let a good blade go to waste so I'm finishing the full tang version.

Here are a couple pics. Scales are 30-year-old aged Cocobolo, copper pins and a nickel silver guard. This one may come out nearly as nice as the other one...
