Knife Making and being Disabled

Well guys, I talked to my case worker at SS today and she said it may be about 30 more days before I know the outcome of my application.
This is realy a long drawn out process.

Thanks Tom, I will. I really have no choice anyway.
The wife, while sympathetic, is becoming more agitated with the passing weeks.
Money troubles cause lots of problems for couples. I've been fortunate so far that we have been able to maintain our dignity ans respect for each other through these rough times.

Hello Eric.
I figure I've been lucky after reading about some REAL problerms. I have had among other things, both knees totaly replaced about a year apart. They were done by two different bone specialists. Both knees give me some pain when I walk. That I can live with by taking the Tyenols but what is a real problem is I cannot kneel on them even on a pillow without the pain becoming excurciating. I have to fall over to one side or another. I was told there is nothing that can be done to correct this. If I fall someplace without someone with me I would have to hope a stranger would be there to help me get up. I feel darn lucky to be able to get around as I can. I'm writing this to let you know not all the knee jobs have been good ones , but maybe, I hope, a better answer can be found for your problem. Frank

Frank, I cant kneel on my knee either. The doctor told me that the ligiments and knee cap can not take the pressure of being pressed against the steel. I cant kneel on the knee joint of my artificial leg because I have a hydraulic recovery joint which is supposed to help me if I loose my balance...and the hydraulic system resides directly under the knee area behind a plastic cover. I was told it could break.
You ought to see me when I fall. It's got to be as funny as an Abbot and Costello routine.

Well Guy's,
I haven't had ether of my knees replaced and I hope I never have too,
I still can Kneel for more that a few seconds with severe pain so I have a set of Masonry workers knee pads that I wear when I have to clean something up etc.

Would those pads help you guys any? Any Home Depot etc will have them.

Probably not Laurence I dont have anything substantial to strap them to on my prosthesis, and my other knee cant stand any kind of pressure. I once dropped a throw pillow behind the couch and tried to put my knee on the seat cushion while I retrieved it. I came off that cushion like it was on fire.
The good news is my knee no longer has joint pain.

ERIC!

:s11798::s11798::s11798: That is super cool! I remember going thru that years ago and it was such a relief when I got a check in the mail that included money from the time I filed.

You deserve it and I wish you the best BROTHER!
