Hell ya! If you go way past your target grit, it leaves a nice polished look on the areas between the finish scratches, looks a LOT better than just working up to the grit you are looking for.
I am old school enough to like a mirror polish......I find grinding to 15 micron on a 3m finishing belt and then going to the buffer will produce a good finish.....I use a few grades of compound on my 1 1/2 hp baldor buffer at 3600 rpm and get a good quality finish
