Hey so I'm new, but I am wondering what grit stones you guys use to sharpen your knives?

And what about blades that are hard to sharpen with flat stones, such as kukris? What do you guys use to sharpen blades like that?

Are strops necessary?

Thanks.

Welcome to Knife dogs
Them Lucky knife makers will use their belt grinders
I like Diamond stones. They cut the steel well, Better than real (rock) stones
Strops are good to get that edge more polished for a smooth cut. Most prefer a toothy edge left by a belt or stone to aid in cutting

hello.Welcome to KD. I use a belt grinder to sharpen my knives as well, then use a fine grit stone then a strop. It seems to work fine for me.
