Hi
I'm not entirely new to this forum as I have been reading and following threads here for some time. I am a beginning/wannabe knife maker and I have used this forum and other forums to increase my knowledge. Being a beginner, I haven't felt like I had anything to post about until now.
I have been putting my shop together and in that process I acquired an old Harig surface grinder. I was having some problems using it and decided to contact Harig. I contacted their technical support specialist, Jim Seyller. He told me that he had worked for Harig for 43 years and that he may have built my grinder. I explained the problem and he suggested that I begin to disassemble the machine so that we might find the problem. He walked me through the entire process. I emailed pictures of parts to him and he even reviewed them.
I ultimately ordered some replacement parts. Some had to be fitted and he helped with that as well.
When it was all said and done the machine works like a new one. It doesn't look like a new one but it works like one.
If you have a Harig (or even another brand) machine and need parts or technical service don't hesitate to call Jim at 847-683-0476. He was outstanding to work with!
Sorry to be so longwinded but i just wanted to give credit where credit was due. I'll shut up again now!
