First time using 1084 and G10 and my Makers Mark

After taking the advice of many people on here I pick up some 1084 carbon steel to start making my knives out of. Im pretty stoked because it was my first time using G10 as a handle and also my first time using my new makers mark.

I think it looks good. I like the looks of a nice deep etch. Just as long as you don’t overheat the stencil. Got to get my etching machine built

Yeah man the deeper etch matches my knife style but it's just a bit sloppy if you really look at the edges

How does the hydrogen peroxide and mustard etch work? Both at the same time, or is there an order? Love the look. You get something similar with ferric chloride and bleach, but I don't think it's as colorful on the steel.

Here is how I do it

Lay a paper towel down on a counter or bench pour hydrogen peroxide onto the paper towel until it's damp

Then you take yellow mustard and squirt it on the paper towel and spread it into and area large enough to cover the knife

Then I take coffee grounds and I spread that on top of the mustard until there's an even layer(to be transparent I'm not exactly sure if this makes a difference. I really need to do more testing)

Finally I take a spoon and mix every thing in with the mustard stick the knife on top and wrap it up in towel the making sure that every visible part of the blade is covered in the goop lol after about 20 minutes I will wash it all off and at that point the patina is completed

Wow Justin, I was waiting to hear you say "and add the eye of a newt to the mustard" Ha ha.
All kidding aside that knife came out nice. I use a lot of G10 myself, I know a lot of people don't like the dust and neither do I but it sure makes a nice nearly indestructible handle.
if I could add one thing to that blade I'd chamfer the inside of those lanyard tubes...if they aren't already, I can't be sure with those pics.
