Went to an estate sale today and got this 1 x 42 grinder for $28. I also got a real nice wood scribe, work light and a "monkey clamp". -Larry

Monkey clamp? That sounds like something I need when my grand kids are visiting my shop. Do you want to sell it?

Hey Fellas,
I guess I had the name wrong its called "Monkey Grip". I will probably hang on to them and see how they work, but heres a pic.

Interesting looking clamp. Any idea what it's used for specifically?

Not for sure,as to the size, but Dad had one, that
looked very simaler to that.I seen him use it
to hold ''hot patches''.I've seen him fix a many
a car,and bike tires with those hot patches.
May not be what that is.

God bless,Keith

Its about the size of a large C clamp, but has the claw on the end. I would imagine you would use it much like a regular c clamp, but the claw on the end is threaded as well. First I had ever seen one. Doug that grinder for $28 is older, but probably twice as nice as my other 1 x 42, which I think is an old Sears Craftsman (shaky cast wheels) . This one is like the kalamazoo type with the long platen, and has the enclosed motor housing. Finally have some more options now with the 2x72 and these little ones. Someone told me once you can never have too many grinders..............or ummmmmm clamps.
