Elmax raffle bar build

I recieved the two bars of Elmax I won from Tracy Friday afternoon. Saturday I made a copy of a pattern that Murph kindly let me use as a base for the knife which will also be the blank for the military build off. I tweeked it up a little by reducing his pattern 15% so it would fit on the 1 1/2" bar and added my own small changes. Sunday I spent an hour or so to cut out, shape and drill the blank. Cutting and drilling the Elmax had no issues and surprised me at how easy to work it was. The saw glided right through the stuff. I drilled the blank for 5/16 corbies and 1/4 lanyard tube. I'll probably make up my own Jolycarta for the slabs. This is where it stands at the moment and plan to grind in the bevels and heat treat it as time allows this week (darn you work and family):2::biggrin:

Stay tuned for updates.

Lookin good Rudy. If you reduced it by 15%, it should be about where the original design was. I increased the width of the blade on the final design I posted in order to give everyone a little play room to do thier own thing. I'll keep my eyes open for your progress. I'm excited to see what you do with it.

Can't wait to see it finished up ! What flavor of Jolycarta are you thinking of brewing up ?

Hi Bill,
On the carta, I'll have to see which one of my chamy shirts has been misbehaving and offer it up for sacrifice. The chamies made the best set of scales in my carta experiments. Or maybe the living room drapes may volunteer. Think the queen would notice ?

Thank you all for your kind comments.
