Yesterday , one of my guys needed some welding done on our Cat 908 bucket.. So I cut a few plates , welded them in place and made the repair.
The shop has been quiet this winter so being that I had some scraps of 3/16 plate by the welding bench , I started welding stuff together. No one could have pulled me away from the bench. I was on a mission . ( Ya know when you start something and you get in that zone ? Well I was in the zone . ) I was welding pieces together and I made myself a new edge quench tank ..
OL 15"
Depth 4"
Width 6"
I made a removeable plate . Im gonna fill the oil to about 1/4 " above the plate to do my quenching.
Oh yeah , I did fill it with my parts washer solvent for an hour or so and it doesnt leak .
I needed this like a hole in the head . Like there was something really wrong with my 2 dollar steel pan that Ive been using forever .. What can I tell ya , Sometimes a guy just has to do what he has to do. lol !

Thanks for looking.
