College kid from DFW

Hi All,

I'm Scotty and I'm 23, a college student and really getting into knives and how to make them. So far I've managed to pick up a large drill press, a band saw, 2 sanders, and a few other fun things so its a start. Theres craftsman sa80 Im eyeballing for 80 bucks so I can start grinding on the cheap. Where are some good places to go to for heat treating air quenchable steels and where are some good places to find steel plate in something usable for a solid "axe"?

Welcome, Scotty. As for your question on steel, you should give Specialty Metals in Arlington a try. The owner is a good guy and he has a respectable variety of steel.
