Christmas Present from scrap

Diamond G Knives

Well-Known Member
Here is letter opener I made for my Sister In Law, scrounged around the shop, found small chunk of cable with nickle wraps in it, forged into a small dagger blade flat on the back, diamond cross section on the face. The handle is not really scrap, but from another knife it didnt work for, its old Elk horn, the base is unknown burl chunk I had left after cutting up handle blocks ( I belive its Quince burl) if you recognize it, please speak up! The fittings are mild steel and cold blued. Only thing not reclaimed is the brass rod. I was pretty pleased with the outcome.

Mike, that is very nice and what a great idea. Can't name the burl but it sure makes a great base. If your sister-in-law doesn't like it my address is............

Thanks Denton. I really wish I knew what kind of burl that is. I ordered it years ago off Ebay, and just started sawing it up last week. I want to sy Chechin Burl or Quince, but not relly sure.

God Bless
