Christmas gift idea help?

Hey guys. My family does a gift exchange game for christmas every year. Everyone makes a handmade/homemade gift.

I'm flat out drawing a blank on what to make this year and running out of time.

Anybody have any ideas on simple gadget/trinket/gift type thing that would be convenient or handy?

Some guidelines:

It won't be any type of a knife or blade.
It shouldn't be terribly difficult or time consuming.
I have typical knifemaking tools and materials.
Thinking small-ish?
Wood, metal, damascus type object?
Doesn't have to be cheap or expensive or really have any financial value attached.
Could be useful or decorative.

Any ideas appreciated.
 
Only things I could really come up with. Damascus divot repair tool if its for a guy who golf's, Damascus Christmas ornament with 2020 on it from a nail.polish resist before etching, and maybe a Damascus bottle opener
 
Nobody plays golf but those are definitely the right types of ideas. The bottle opener could be something.

Does any of your family enjoy oysters? A fancy oyster knife is always a treasure in the SE. I have to agree with the opener or some type of key chain or ornament for a key chain.
 
Forge out a steak flipper. Always a big hit in my family. If there are females forge a few S-Hooks of varying sizes chics dig those. Forge out a plant hanger or bird feeder holder. Forge a cooking fork or spoon/ladle. Got family with a fire place? Forge out a poker, or a kindling froe. Holler if you need more ideas.

I like the steak flipper idea too.

Hey Chris....what do you do to "finish" that forged stuff? Wire wheel? Oil baked finish? Nothing?
 
Depends on what I made. The S-hooks and non food stuff I paint with stove paint. For food stuff heat the piece up to black heat and rub beeswax or cooking oil all over it.
 
If you go to you-tube and look up Black Bear Forge. Its an old dude in Colorado who is a VERY good blacksmith. If you search his videos you will find something to make for a gift. His videos are really good too, very well done.

Pizza wheel axle?

Hello all. I'm in the process of trying to make some explosion pattern pizza wheels for the holidays and am wondering if anyone who makes folders (@BossDog?) had any suggestions on what to use for the axle/pivot. My initial thought (using part I have on hand) was to use some large brass corby...
