Brand Spanking New to Knife Making

Hi dogs!

I'm in Simpsonville, SC and looking for some folks to learn from. Right now I've got a 2x42 belt sander and a few hand tools. I'm working on my first blade from O1 steel and it's a small EDC defensive knife. I would absolutely LOVE to get with someone around here who does convex edges and learn about how to get good consistent grinds. I'm up for lots of practice. I bought a 3 foot long piece of steel and am making 6 inch oal knives from it so I want lots of grinding to get good.

Thanks for this resource as I've been lurking and reading a lot of the new knifemaker and knifemaker forums.

If you're willing to help out a newb, please pm me and we'll get on the phone and get together. I know enough to know I don't know enough. 2thumbs

Welcome to the pack Brandon. A very wise move asking for help. I know of alot of guys who have jumped into knife making and made it on thier own, but each and every single one of them have told me it would have been much easier if they had had a mentor who could teach them the basics.

Keep reading the tutorials and various threads in the "Shop Talk" area. There is alot of information to be found there. I'm sorry I can't point you to a specific maker to help you out, but hopefully one will chime in and offer assistance.
