Hey Guys,
Here are a few pics of the knife and sheath I finished . I took a few pics outside and a few with a light box I made using Shokr's WIP. I still have a long way to go with the whole photography thing. Out of 10 pics in the light box , I selected two to show you guys. This whole lighting thing is something Im not used to. I guess I have a lot more work in front of me to try and get it right.

OL 8" with some hand filing to spine
1095 5/32"
Stabilized Maple Burl
Stainless Spacer and brass squiggly thing
Redish liners .015
Brass Bolsters
Sheath 8 oz , Java Brown Dye

Any tips on the light box and lighting will be very appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Mikey,
Really nice knife and "squiggly thing". The sheath goes with it perfectly. Nice and nice!! Photos are looking pretty darn good too.

Can't help you with the photography aspect, because your pics are much better than I'm capable of. I will say that knife and sheath are awesome!

That knife, and your sheath work, tight basketweave and glossy finish (and the squiggly thing) are absolutely gorgeous. I especially like how the color matches between the handle scales and sheath. Impressive.

Very nice work on that one and I think you did great on those pictures- getting the light to that nice level is tricky- I am still working on that.

Really, really nice work on the knife,I like it and the sheath.
I usually take a minimum of 30 photos in my light box in order to get 2 that I'm happy with.
Keep at it,change the light around from angle to angle, experiment, experiment, experiment.

Thanks Ausbrooks. I think I need brighter light . It still looks to faint to me .

Hey Cal, what kind of light do you use ? Or doesn't really matter? Wattage?

I use 3 of those curly que bulbs I got at Home Depot, the best I can remember they are daylight bulbs 40 watts. I have them in some clamp on fixtures with big aluminum reflectors. When I get everything set up and ready I turn out all the other lights in my shop and cover up the window to keep out the daylight. I clamp them to the top rail of my light box, they are aimed at the knife from above and behind and I use a piece of white poster board between my camera ( on a tripod) and the knife, reflecting light back on the knife from the front. Then I take lots of pictures with the knife at different angles and positions. Then I transfer the photos to my iPad and pick the best ones then use Photogene app to enhance them.
The next camera I get will be able to be tethered to my iPad if at all possible so I can se the images full size before I take the photo. I think that will save a lot if time and may result in better photos.
My camera is an old cannon point and shoot,I just set it on auto, turn off the flash, set it on macro and set the delay timer to 2 sec. So the camera dosen't move when I push the button. I have tried and tried to understand about all the settings on my camera but it just won't penetrate my thick skull so I do it this way.

Thanks Cal.. I guess I'm kinda on the same page . It seems to me that I need to move the lights around a little more and maybe get a piece of white poster board for between the tripod and box for reflecting light . I just need more practice at it . It was my first time messin with this stuff. Thank you for the tip. I'm gonna try it.
