Do I need to heat treat a wedding cake knife?

One more question, would it be more corrosion resistant if it was heat treated? My nephew said they would probably use it and pack it away after the wedding. I don't know metals very well and don't want it to corrode after they pack it away. Thanks, Shayn

Do I need to heat treat a weddig cake knife?

It's only going to be used once and it's just cutting cake. It's aeb-l stainless, should I still heat treat it? If so is there anyone in northern Indiana that wants to do it? Thanks, Shayn

    First knife done!

Here is my little shop I just started. http://KnifeDogs.com/showthread.php?32392-The-knife-making-bug-bit-me! I would say the hardest part for me was keeping my grinds even. I used 1084 and heat treated myself with a propane torch and a homemade oven made out of fire bricks.

    First knife done!

Here is my first knife. I don't think it turned out to bad. Tell me what you think? Here it is after I put a patina on it.

The knife making bug bit me!

Here is the knife. It's not much, but it's my first knife. It's 1084 and I'm going to try heat treating it myself. See any thing I should do before heat treating?

The knife making bug bit me!

I started putting this shop together 6 weeks ago. It started as a bare shed, I ran the electric, insulated, and put the osb up. My plan is to put a/c and heat in it. There is still plenty more I need, but I got the basics. I started making my first knife this weekend. Here's some pics...
